Sukan SEA Myanmar, MALAYSIA target achievement of 213 40 gold medals offered in the SEA Games Myanmar from 11 to 22 December.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Khairy Jamaluddin described it as a realistic target based on the type of sport and event dipertanding and strength athletes who participate in this competition.
“Target Sports Sea less than before because a lot of sports that we won gold earlier, totaling 28 events, is not contested.
“The target of 40 gold medals also are based on the assessment NSC (National Sports Council), OCM (Olympic Council of Malaysia) and the sports associations,” he told reporters after a working visit to Wisma OCM yesterday.
Earlier, he attended a meeting of the Myanmar Sea Games managers at the same place.
Khairy said the event is a three-gold target of swimming, diving (8), archery (6), athletics (5), silat (3), wushu (3) in addition to defending the gold for football.
A total of 33 types of sporting events involving 460 dipertanding at the biennial tournament, which was held in Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon and Mandalay regions and Ngwe Saung Beach.
Contingent, which sent 833 athletes and officials will take part in 29 sports except vovinam, traditional boat racing, wrestling and kempo.
