Read More:- King Edward Viii Abdicated The Throne King Edward Viii Abdicated The Throne , King Edward VIII abdicates So smitten was Edward, Prince of Wales with a brassy American divorcee named Wallis Simpson that in 1936, just months after being crowned King of England, he proposed to her. The pairing was deemed wholly unsuitable by the palace and government at the time and then Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin even threatened to resign if the marriage went ahead! So Edward, in what has to be classed as one of the all-time most romantic gestures decided to abdicate the throne to be with the woman he loved. In a famous address to the nation he said “I have found it impossible to carry the heavy burden of responsibility and to discharge my duties as King as I would wish to do without the help and support of the woman I love.” The couple later married and lived in exile in France. Now that’s giving it all up for love! The Taj Mahal What could be more romantic than having a phenomenal marble and precious stone encrusted palace commissioned and erected in your honour? That’s just what emperor Shah Jahan of India was moved to do in 1632 following the passing of his beloved wife Mumtaz who died while giving birth to the couple’s 14th (yes you read that right 14th) son.

So, how did this 35 year old, spirited young woman fall so dramatically from favour? After all, she was the woman who held Henry’s interests the longest, having caught his eye in the early to mid 1520s. Henry VIII had been so besotted with her that he waited for 7 years for her and bombarded her with letters when she was removed from court, 18 of which remain today, and yet this was a man who hated writing his own letters!
Read More:- George Stephanopoulos George Stephanopoulos , Dick Morris started off the week on Monday by going after ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, a former colleague of his during his tenure with President Clinton, for being a “paid Democratic hitman.” That comment was made on Hannity, and tonight Morris was on The O’Reilly Factor, where host Bill O’Reilly made him elaborate on his point and chastised him for claiming there was an exchange of money between Stephanopoulos and the Democratic National Committee. Morris explained that he believed Stephanopoulos was the first to bring up contraceptives as a serious national issue during a debate earlier this year, and it was not until recently that the Democrats took that ball and ran with it in the debate currently in the air about the Catholic Church having to abide by a mandate from the President. “This is all of a piece to set up contraception as the new social issue replacing abortion to separate the left and the right,” Morris argued, a claim O’Reilly didn’t entirely see the merit to. “If I was Stephanopoulos, I’d slap you with the biggest lawsuit in the world,” he told Morris, noting that he understood the framing of the contraceptive issue but adding that it was a big jump to make between that conclusion and the transfer of money.

Read More:- Long Gun Registry Long Gun Registry , The Harper government’s controversial bill to end the long-gun registry has passed the House of Commons, marking the end of a long political battle over one of the most controversial law enforcement measures in recent memory. The bill passed easily, by a margin of 159 to 130, as the Conservatives used their majority in the House to secure passage. Almost all opposition MPs voted against the legislation except for New Democrats Bruce Hyer and John Rafferty, who sided with the government.
